Hi, I’m Jess! I am an interdisciplinary artist in Minneapolis, MN. I cut up and deconstruct everyday domestic materials and rearrange them into wild compositions through a practice of intuition and formal abstraction. I find joy in connecting with the past souls who have used or worn the materials I work with, whether those connections are known or imagined. I manipulate, layer, and blend small pieces of reality into dimensions led by desire. I build portals between form and function, through the reckless act of cutting, the soothing harmony of arranging, and the grounding repetition of sewing. Every piece is a meditation, whether it’s on a feeling, a curiosity, a loved one, or a color… I move through each piece and come out more centered on the other side.
Jess lives in Minneapolis, MN with her two children and their dogs, Sunny and Pip. She is a member of Embodied Material, and teaches K-5 art.
